2026 Earth Day Countdown!
This spring, through eight weeks of hands-on activities, Salmon Bay elementary and middle school students will explore the environmental impact of their own school community—making abstract concepts like waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainability tangible and meaningful.

Initiative Overview
Where: Salmon Bay Library
When: Tuesdays through Fridays, February 23 to April 24
Materials will be setup on a round table in the center of the library. Each week will feature a display with a weekly activity, information about sustainability, and previous activity results.

Up Next: Middle School Sustainability Club
As the Earth Day Countdown initiative wraps up, our hope is to have inspired various students to continue the journey in learning, wondering, and doing more around sustainability at Salmon Bay (and beyond). This group would be facilitated from a positive, curious place, to help students build their ideation, strategy, and advocacy skills through design thinking methods.

About the FOSB Sustainability Committee
As parents at Salmon Bay K-8, we know how much sustainability matters to our school community, and we’re excited to channel that shared value into hands-on learning experiences that inspire students to see themselves as environmental problem-solvers. Our long-term goal is to facilitate the creation of a student-led sustainability group, leading with hope and creativity to create change grounded in community.
